Grandpa planted a tiny turnip seed. “Grow, little turnip, sweet and strong!” he said.

Grandpa planted a tiny turnip seed. “Grow, little turnip, sweet and strong!” he said.

The turnip grew, and grew, and GREW — into an enormous turnip, bigger than Grandpa himself!

Grandpa took hold and pulled. He pulled and pulled — but the turnip would not budge.

Grandpa called Grandma. Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip — pull, pull — but it would not come up.

Grandma called the Granddaughter. Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip — pull, pull — still it would not come up.

They called the little Dog. Dog pulled Granddaughter, Granddaughter pulled Grandma — pull, pull — but the enormous turnip stayed put.

They called the Cat. Cat pulled Dog, Dog pulled Granddaughter — pull, pull — still the turnip held fast.

At last they called the tiny Mouse. Mouse pulled Cat, Cat pulled Dog, Dog pulled Granddaughter, Granddaughter pulled Grandma, Grandma pulled Grandpa, Grandpa pulled the turnip — and POP! Out it came! Everyone tumbled over, laughing. Even the smallest helper made all the difference — and they shared a big turnip supper together.

Sweet dreams.
